Here's a Real Contest for You! Beautiful Cotton Yarn

My Grandson choose # 57!! so the winner of the yarn is Dave in Texas!!

I feel so bad about cancelling the other contest that I thought I'd just start doing giveaways, I'm not going to promise every week or even once a month but I will have a series of giveaways!

This yarn is one of the nicest, most lucious cotton yarns I've ever seen. I have more of it, a lot more, so I figured I'd share. I never made anything out of it because it was so nice I wanted whatever I made to be special. Anyway, it's 100% Mercerized Cotton from Greece. It says Tahki Imports on it. Each hank is 50 grams (74 yards) and it says it's machine washable. The colors are deeper and richer than the photo shows, must have been the lighting this morning.

    Cool... I have not crafted for charity... yet. I've only been crocheting 2 years in Nov. I've learned alot, but still have soooo much more to learn. I'm sure one day I will do some crocheting for charity, nice thing to do :)

    Hi Deb - I am glad that you are feeling better and are back to crafting.
    I am crocheting for Warming Families,Outreach Program, Dream Center and several others. Been doing that for several years. The need gets bigger every year.

    I knit for charity. So far in 2009, I have knitted a sweater and a hat for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. I have knitted a red scarf for the Red Scarf project for orphans. I also knitted 1 shawl and working on the 2nd one now for my church to keep in the pews.

    I haven't crafted for charity for a long time I have quite a few projects going at the moment, way to many irons in the fire and I am getting ready to go back to work after being out of the job force for six years. As soon as Christmas is over this year sooner if I get my other projects done sooner than expected I have plans to make some hats to donate to the local schools for children that do not have hats to keep them warm, and then make some squares for veterns for comfortghans.

    I belong to a group that makes afghans for a battered women's shelter here in Indianapolis. We all make strips that I crochet together and add a border around the afghan. They have been very well recieved--the women love them.

    I saw your message on the Crochet Partners list. The only crocheting that I do craft is for charities. My big thing is making blankets for Project Linus, but I make big blankets (for the big kids). These are full-size afghans that are always made with the softest yarn I can find.

    I also make hats and scarves for soldiers, and my yarn ends go into squares for the 6x9 project that also sends afghans to soldiers.

    I try to crochet for charity, at least one item a month, in the winter. I really don't do much needle work in the hot summer months.

    Beautiful colors! I often crochet & knit caps for the children here that are in the custody of DFACS (Department of Families and Children Services). I also crochet tiny caps for preemies & donate to the local hospital. I think donating warms your heart and the items donated warm someone that needs them. this also keeps "Mr. Arthor-itis" at bay. ;o)

    I love making things for others, and charities are the best way to do it. I have made knitted breasts for breast cancer survivors, and I am currently making some afghan squares for Pine Ridge.

    Hi Deb, Mostly I knit things for the family or I'm working on a purse design. But I have knit hats for charity. I save them up and bring them to the Stitch n Pitch ball game and a huge collection gets donated to big brothers/big sisters. I'll start working on this year's items after the holidays.     I have been crocheting since I was 8 years old. I am now a 54 year old grandmother of 11. I love creating things for charities. When I was 10 I handmade Christmas stockings and filled them with goodies, like small size fancy toiletries, candy, sample size colognes, etc. I dontated them to the local senior home. I now do premie clothing and blankets for birthright and others. I also am working on Special Olympic scarfs for their winter olympics this coming January.
